The last few months were very tough for a former Chief Minister. The ED was after him and he had to resign. Shortly before his arrest, he stepped down. Later he was arrested and sent to custody. The leader was released on bail and he took oath as the Chief Minister.

His government won the trust vote in the House. His side got 45 seats which was over 50 percent. We are talking about Hemant Soren here who recently took oath as the Chief Minister. He moved the trust motion in the house creating a space for the voting.

There are 81 members in the house. However, the number came down to 76 with a few MLAs contesting as the MPs. The alliance voted in favour of the trust and the government won the motion.

The house saw some tense scenes as the Chief Minister came down severely on the opposition BJP. He alleged that the BJP is misusing the central agencies and treating the opposition. His comments created a big row in the house with the opposition leaders making counter comments.

In the wake of the vote, the opposition walked out of the house. However, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and RJD parties which are in alliance won the trust creating a space for Hemant Soren to serve as the Chief Minister.

Hemant Soren comes from a political family that has dominated the political picture for a few decades. His father served as the Chief Minister twice. But Hemant Soren became Chief Minister thrice and the recent term marks his third term.

He was arrested earlier this year over the allegations of alleged land scam. He spent five months in prison and the Court gave him the bail. After he returned, Champai Soren who was the Chief Minister resigned and Hemant took oath as the CM. He thanked Champai Soren for saving the government in the crisis time.
