Chief Minister’s Post On Gita Backfires, Issues Apology!
No matter who you are, if you try to play with the fire of religion, it will burn you to ashes.
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 Dec 2023 3:16 PM GMTReligion is a sensitive matter. One should be very careful while talking about it as there are people who get offended easily even for the small things. In the past few years, the Right-wing ideology has become very strong and we are seeing some harsh reactions if the sentiments are hurt.
No matter who you are, if you try to play with the fire of religion, it will burn you to ashes. This was proven many times. Now a Chief Minister had learnt this the hard way. A post he made on social media had increased the political heat. Having faced the heat he had withdrawn the post and issued an apology.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is quite active on social media shared a verse from Bhagavad Gita. However, the post backfired and he had issued an apology.
He shared a sloka along with a translation that says that Shudras have to serve the three Varnas-Brahmin, Kshatriya, and Vaishya. The post did not go well with many and questioned how a Chief Minister could post such a thing.
Seeing the fire from various corners, the Chief Minister realized his mistake. He was quick to issue an apology. The Assam Chief Minister said that it was the mistake of one of his team members who came up with the wrong translation of the verse.
"Recently one of my team members posted a sloka from Chapter 18 verse 44 with an incorrect translation. As soon as I noticed the mistake, I promptly deleted the post... If the deleted post has offended anyone, I sincerely apologise," the Chief Minister said clarifying the matter.
