India is one of the biggest telecom networks in the world and is also one of the largest consumers of the communication industry. Considering the fact that there are more than 140 crore people in India, it is naturally bound to have a significant phone user base as well.

How the discussion has opened about the aspect of unknown callers, which has been a major concern till the recent past. It has become extremely common for people to hide anonymous numbers and make spam calls to everyone.

However, the latest decision that has been taken by the central authorities is extremely positive in nature as it has been mandate that companies must collect user call information from now on.

The Centre has directed telecom operators to mandatorily display callers' registered names alongside their phone numbers from November 1, 2026. This would essentially mean that the telecom operators will display the name of the registered SIM card owner while he calls someone.

The new CNAP system aims to help users identify unknown callers and curb spam and fraud calls. This is a crucial step that is going to be taken by the government of India and telecom sector as well.

Many people have been facing challenging situations with these unknown callers and spam numbers, which had become a major headache these days. So it is good to see the authorities finally take action in this direction and it has to be seen how it would be implemented from November 1.
