An interesting case of corruption had reached a High court and the judge gave a key verdict. The case that goes back to the late 2000s saw the accused get a big relief as the High Court gave orders in favour of the officer. During the arguments, the judge is said to have made key comments on the amount involved.

The Bombay High Court said that Rs 100 was a small amount and announced the officer as not guilty. Having said that the High Court upheld the orders of the lower court. The case goes back to 2007.

Going into details, the case of a medical officer taking bribe in 2007 came to the Court. The single-judge bench of the Bombay High Court comprising Justice Jitendra Jain said that Rs 100 is a very small amount in 2007 and in 2023 as well. Having said that the case was termed as trivial matter by the judge.

Back in 2007, a person went to the medical officer in Pune to get his injuries treated. To give the medical certificate, he repeatedly asked for Rs 100. The complainant then went to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), and the medical officer was caught taking bribe.

When the case reached the High Court after 16 years, it acquitted the officer. Earlier, a lower court acquitted the medical officer. Now the Bombay High Court upheld the acquittal of the medical officer and gave him a big relief.

The ACB officers probed the matter under the Prevention of Corruption Act. When the matter went to the notice of the special judge, the medical officer was acquitted. With this, the government went for an appeal and the High Court gave a big relief.
