Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo announced on Sunday that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be his last.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Portugal's Round of 16 clash with Spain, he said, "This will be my last World Cup, but hopefully the match against Spain won't be my last game."

Ronaldo said the day will surely come when he retires from international football, but whenever that happens, he will leave the game with a clear conscience, having given football everything he had.

"I play football because I love it," he said, adding that he doesn't need the money and that his life is already good it's about passion, not necessity.
