One of the iconic players in the IPL David Warner, who is also an absolute legend with the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise has faced a very peculiar situation. He was arrested by Australian police after getting caught in a drunk drive case.

Former Australian cricket star David Warner has been arrested and charged with drink driving following an incident in Sydney, sending shockwaves through the cricket world.

The 39-year-old veteran was stopped by police on April 5 during a random breath testing operation on Malabar Road in Maroubra, a suburb in Sydney’s eastern district.

According to New South Wales Police, officers noticed Warner’s van stop and park just before reaching the breath testing checkpoint, which prompted them to approach the vehicle.

A roadside breath test returned a positive result, leading to his immediate arrest. He was then taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.104, more than double the legal limit of 0.05 for fully licensed drivers in New South Wales.

He has been charged with mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol and issued a Field Court Attendance Notice. He is scheduled to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on May 7, 2026.

The incident has also created uncertainty around Warner’s participation in the Pakistan Super League. He currently captains the Karachi Kings, who are on a three-match winning streak and sitting second in the points table.

Warner was expected to fly back to Pakistan on April 9 for the second leg of the tournament, but his return is now in doubt.
