Australia’s run in the ongoing World Cup came to an end. Two back-to-back defeats made it tough for the team and it had to depend on other teams. No matter what it was knocked out of the league. Australian fans faced another shock as a veteran player bid his goodbye.

Left-handed batsman David Warner who was part of many memorable wins for Australia bid goodbye to the T20s. ICC said David Warner had stepped down from the game. Former Australian skipper Ricky Pointing said Warner’s impact on the game was such that it is difficult to find a player like him.

There is nothing wrong with what Ponting said. David Warner is a shotgun. With his aggressive game style, he had given nightmares to many bowlers. His legacy is such that he had 49 centuries to his name in the international game.

David Warner’s journey is around one and a half decades across the platforms. During the same, he added many records to his name. Across the formats, he scored close to 19000 runs. He scored 3,277 runs in the T20 format, the highest for an Australian batter.

The left-handed batsman was part of the ODI Team that won the World Cup in 2023 in India. Even in test cricket, he has an IC trophy with the Test Championship by defeating India. But the same did not happen with the T20 format. Australia was knocked out of the league. Many felt that he would end his career on a high note with another trophy. But things went differently. After Australia's exit, he quit the T20 format. Earlier he retired from ODI and Test formats. However, there is no clarity on his IPL future.
