The Indian Parliament witness a pretty significant development recently after the introduction of the Women reservation and delimitation bill in the Lok Sabha as this hadn’t polled the required 2/3rd majority in the house.

As expected, all the opposition parties in the country managed to form a consolidated stand against this proposal that would largely enhance the number of parliament and Assembly seats.

Except for a few opposition parties across the country, the majority of the protest came from the members of the INDIA alliance bloc who were persistent with their demands.

Coming to the party wise number associated with the opposition of this bill that was presented in the Lok Sabha yesterday, let us have a look into the numbers game.

Congress – 99

Samajwadi Party – 37

Trinamool Congress – 29

Shiv Sena UBT – 9

NCP SP – 8

CPI and CPM – 6

RJD – 4

AIMIM and others – 16

Total: 230 MPs

The strong stand taken by the Congress party and also the Samajwadi party has clearly worked in favour of the opposition fight against the delimitation bill.

This happens to be one of the biggest opposing events against the NDA alliance in the Indian Lok Sabha, and this could potentially have a lot of impact on the government soon. In adequate proposal of such bills is never expected from a strong alliance government and many people are commenting that NDA has underestimate the opposition power in the same.
