The YSRCP led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy brought the flagship Volunteers system after winning the elections. They are playing a key role in taking welfare to the doorstep of the public. They also came in handy during the Covid outbreak as they did a door-to-door survey at that time.

However, the Volunteer system also faces criticism over alleged involvement in many aspects. The issue was even taken to the notice of the High Court and the court asked who exactly they were and what their work is. This development became the talk of the town.

Ahead of the elections, the Election Commission gave crucial orders saying that Volunteers should not be made a part of elections. The election body barred the volunteers from election duties in the state while Village/Ward Sachivalayam employees can be allowed with some restrictions.

Amid this, a Cabinet Minister from Andhra Pradesh made some crucial comments and said that the Volunteers might need to sit in the polling booths as election agents. He made these comments at a gathering which resulted in big applause.

Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao made some sensational comments and said that Volunteers might need to sit in the polling booths as the agents as there are no barriers for them.

The Minister said that they should prove it is not possible to cast fake votes in the elections and that volunteers should sit in the polling booths. He also urged the volunteers to help the elderly people who cannot go to polling booths due to their age in casting their votes in the elections.

His comments became the talk of the town as they came days after the Election Commission said the Volunteers should not be made a part of election duties. Now we have to wait and see what sensation the comments would do in the state.
