Didi’s Big Punch To Congress And INDIA Alliance?

A strong opposition is very crucial in a democracy as there should be a voice for the public. However, the opposition party could not be a strong force in the past few terms. The grand old Congress party decided to bring the opposition parties under one roof to form a lethal force.

To face the mighty BJP, the Congress formed a grand alliance INDIA Bloc. However, the bloc has been facing issues due to various reasons which raised questions on the sustainability of the block. Yet again the bloc faced a death blow.

The Lok Sabha elections are just a few months away from now. The Congress wants to defeat the BJP with the help of the opposition parties. However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave a big twist for the Lok Sabha elections and said that her party has no ties with the Congress.

The Chief Minister said that her party will contest alone in the Lok Sabha polls. She said that there would be no ties with the INDIA alliance for the polls. We would think about the alliance after the polls, she said.

Adding further she said that her party wanted to go to elections along with the alliance but there is no possibility now as her party will go alone in elections in the 42 seats in the state.

This can be seen as a big blow to the Congress party which has no strong ground in West Bengal. While the ruling TMC can easily take on the BJP, the Congress will lose many seats as the political observers say that Congress wants to be the kingmaker in the elections.

For the past few days, a war of word has been going on between the TMC and Congress over the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. TMC took a strong objection to Congress not informing them on the yatra entering the state despite being a part of the alliance.
