Though the educational institutions and other sectors get good income from the admissions it also impacts the resources and increases the cost.
Of late, we are hearing about countries imposing restrictions on student visas as it has become really tough to find accommodation due to increased numbers of students. Moreover, the local students are said to be facing issues.
All these factors resulted in the countries imposing restrictions like hiking the fees or putting a cap on the visa numbers. As a result, the visa numbers dropped globally by around 30 percent. Rejection of visas is also a reason.
We are seven months into 2024 and the visa rejections increased by 10 percent already compared to last year. While it was 20 percent in 2023 it went to 30 percent now. Many factors should be blamed for this.
Due to the high cost of living students have to look for part-time jobs to make ends meet. Or else they should have to depend on the money their families send. One US dollar is trading at over Rs 83 now and if a family wants to send 10,000 dollars then it costs a bomb back in their countries like India and others.
Seeing that international students are working for more overs than permitted the working hours were reduced further closing the opportunities. This factor is also a reason.
Compared to earlier the costs to apply for student visas increased. It has put an additional burden on the students and their families. Even if they apply for the visa they are being rejected. The bank balance plays a key role in getting the visas and considering this many visas are getting rejected.
As per the information, New Zealand rejected close to 40 percent of visas this year out of the total applications received. Other nations also did the same as per the reports. Overall the global student visa numbers dropped.
