By: Tupaki Desk | 15 May 2026 1:02 PM ISTThe former chief minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin is currently one of the senior most politicians in India. He has the legacy of serving as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for five years and delivering excellent results in terms of GDP and state development.
In this context, we have something interesting happening now as Stalin who happened to lose the Kolathur Assembly constituency in the earlier election is preparing to contest from a new seat.
Apparently, Stalin is contemplating the area of contesting from the Trichy East Assembly constituency, which is now vacated due to the resignation of Thalapathy Vijay, who is the new chief minister.
Vijay had contested to Assembly seats in the earlier election, which happened to be Trichy East and Perambur. After having significantly both the seats by a comprehensive margin, Vijay resigned from the Trichy East seat.
This Trichy East constituency is vacant now, and it is being reported that Stalin is considering the idea of contesting from here in the upcoming by election. He is apparently seeing this as a perfect opportunity to enter the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
This is going to be a very interesting clash of political Titans if Stalin actually and contesting the Trichy East constituency, which is now vacated by Stalin.
But at the same time, this comes with a huge risk as if Stalin loses the seat again, then it would mean that he would be losing two elections as an MLA enclosed vicinity. So only time will tell if Stalin will actually take the risk of contesting the seat in the upcoming by election.
