Now, Donald Trump claimed in a post on Truth Social, shared just as markets opened, that Iran’s “new regime president” has reached out to Washington seeking a ceasefire. He appeared to be referring to Masoud Pezeshkian, who recently took office in Iran.

Trump said the United States would only consider any ceasefire request after one key condition is met. According to him, the Strait of Hormuz must be “open, free, and clear” before talks can move forward. The strait is one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes and has been at the center of rising tensions in the region.

In the same post, Trump used extremely strong language, warning that until this condition is fulfilled, the United States will continue heavy action against Iran. He said the U.S. is “blasting Iran into oblivion” and added that it would push the country “back to the Stone Ages.”
