According to Trump, countries benefiting from discounted Russian oil should also take responsibility for helping bring the conflict to an end.

India has consistently maintained that its oil purchases are driven by national interest and energy security. Indian officials have argued that Europe continues to buy Russian energy in different forms and that India is only filling the gap left by reduced Western demand. India has also stressed that its stance is independent and based on protecting its economy and consumers.
