Denali (6,190m), North America’s highest peak, completing the prestigious Seven Summits challenge — scaling the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.
With this summit on June 18, 2026, at approximately 8:30 AM IST, Dr. Rajashekhar has etched his name in mountaineering history as the first doctor from South India to accomplish this elite feat.
His remarkable journey began after a severe battle with COVID-19, which left him hospitalized and demotivated, forcing him to take a nearly year-long break from his medical career. Determined to reclaim his health and purpose, he turned to mountaineering.
Seven Summits Journey:
Mt. Kilimanjaro (Jan 26, 2022)
Mt. Elbrus (Aug 2022)
Mt. Kosciuszko (Aug 2023)
Mt. Aconcagua (Feb 4, 2024)
Mt. Everest (May 23, 2024)
Mt. Vinson (Antarctica, with Kavita)
Mt. Denali (June 18, 2026)
Despite facing injuries, frostbite during a previous failed attempt on Denali in 2025, and extreme weather, his perseverance never wavered. He credits the constant guidance of Bharath Thamineni, founder of Boots and Crampon, for his success.
In a voice message from the mountain, Dr. Rajashekhar said,
“Summit was successfully done without any issue… This journey tested me physically and mentally, but it reminded me of the power of resilience and purpose.”
His wife, Dr. Haripriya, an Infectious Diseases specialist, expressed immense pride:
“From battling a serious illness to standing on the highest peaks, his determination has inspired all of us.”
A dedicated surgeon and family man, Dr. Rajashekhar credits his close-knit joint family — especially his wife and nine-year-old son — for their unwavering support.
This extraordinary story stands as a powerful testament to human resilience, proving that recovery and determination can conquer even the highest peaks on Earth.
