The ED has written a letter to the Hyderabad Police Commissioner asking for complete details of the case. Officials suspect that money laundering took place through the I-Bomma platform.
Earlier, the Hyderabad police froze Rs 3.5 crore from Ravi’s bank accounts. During the investigation, officers found that Ravi received large amounts of money through advertisements from betting apps. Every month, around Rs 15 lakh was transferred from a crypto wallet to his NRI account. The ED now plans to conduct a full examination of all his bank accounts and financial activities.
The investigation has revealed several key points. Police identified transactions worth Rs 20 crore across four different bank accounts linked to Ravi. He reportedly earned huge money by displaying betting app ads on the I-Bomma website. With this income, Ravi is said to have purchased houses in Hyderabad and even in the Caribbean islands.
Police also found that Ravi lived a very luxurious lifestyle. He frequently traveled across India, taking trips every two months with money earned from betting apps. Officials also discovered that he made nearly Rs 11 lakh per month by uploading pirated movies.
Ravi mainly earned through popular betting apps like One X Bet and One Win. During questioning, he told police that he preferred traveling to European countries and did not maintain close relations with friends or relatives.
When police tried to arrest him, Ravi did not open the door for almost 90 minutes. He reportedly deleted his Telegram data and mobile data before opening the door. The police later found his laptop hidden near the bathroom roof and his cellphone inside a cupboard.
The police have requested 5-day custody of Ravi in the Nampally court. The court has postponed the hearing to tomorrow.
