Will Another Farmer Protest Hit BJP Before Lok Sabha Polls?

No introduction is required for the sensation the farmers' protest created in the country. The farmers who were against the controversial farm laws introduced by the Centre sat for the protest for months. At the Delhi border lakhs of farmers sat on roads. With no other option left the government called back the bills.

Now it looks like India might see another big protest by the farmers. Looking at the ongoing developments we have to admit this. Thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana headed to the national capital Delhi. As a result, there was massive traffic at the border.

The farmers want their demands to be fulfilled. The main demand of the farmers is that minimum support price (MSP) should be assured for the crops they cultivate. Dozens of farmers organisations are also taking part in the protest.

Titled Delhi Chalo, the protest aims to bring the farmer community under one roof to fight for the demand. Hundreds of vehicles reached the border already. A few media reports say that farmers have the ration for six months with them.

The Lok Sabha elections are around the corner and we are seeing some tense situations already. Section 144 was imposed by the cops and barricades were put in force. It is also said that tear gas was used to bring the situation under control.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, it looks like BJP might face another setback from the farmers. The farmer community is a respected one and in regions like Haryana and Punjab where Agriculture is a big sector, they hold a big control. Understanding this, the bills were scrapped earlier. Now we have to wait and see what happens with the new protest.
