Following the tragic stampede that occurred outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4, 2025, a social activist has filed a complaint seeking an FIR against cricketer Virat Kohli.

The stampede took place during the celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL victory and led to the death of 11 people and left many others injured.

H.M. Venkatesh, a known social activist, approached the Cubbon Park Police Station and demanded that Virat Kohli be named the main accused in the case. In his complaint, he alleged that the event was poorly managed and overcrowded, and that Kohli, as a key face of the celebration and RCB brand, should be held accountable for not ensuring safety measures.

He blamed the organizers for negligence, claiming that proper crowd control and planning were missing despite the expected large turnout.
