That’s How A Leader Should Be: Former CM Sets An Example!
Veteran politician Venkaiah Naidu who also served as the Vice-President once spoke about this openly.
By: Tupaki Desk | 19 Jun 2024 7:56 AM GMTThose who have seen politics and the way politicians behaved in the last generation would say that politics has lost its glory and politics no longer has decency. Veteran politician Venkaiah Naidu who also served as the Vice-President once spoke about this openly.
While what Venkaiah Naidu said suits the current political picture, there are a few exceptions. We have a few leaders who stand tall among others in maintaining values and dignity. A Chief Minister proved this by fondly greeting the candidate who defeated him.
It is known that the BJP recorded a memorable win in Odisha which saw Naveen Patnaik losing elections after a few decades. He contested from two seats and lost in one seat. The former CM lost the Kantabanji seat to BJP leader Laxman Bag.
The former Chief Minister took oath as the legislator. While he was walking the legislators greeted him as he is a veteran leader. Laxman Bag who defeated Naveen Patnaik stood up and greeted Patnaik. In response, the former CM asked are you the one who defeated me. "Oh, You Defeated Me" Naveen Patnaik told the BJP leader.
The way Naveen Patnaik responded grabbed everyone’s attention in the House. Even the Chief Minister was surprised to see Naveen greeting the MLA with respect who defeated him.
Those who know Naveen Patnaik are not surprised by this. We don't see the losing candidates attending the swearing-in ceremony of the CMs usually. But Naveen Patnaik is not like others. When the CM candidate invited him for the ceremony he accepted the request and attended the ceremony. PM Modi and other BJP leaders had a chat with him on the occasion.
