Job Market Crisis: Tough Time For Indian Students?
This cautious attitude is mainly due to budget cuts, economic uncertainty, and changing workforce needs.
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Nov 2025 6:09 PM ISTThe global job market has been largely volatile in the recent times with several countries starting to crack down on the immigration population. Even the global companies have been largely sizing down operations in recent fast.
The job market that awaits the Class of 2026 is shaping up to be the most difficult since the early pandemic years. Many companies are approaching the coming hiring season with caution, and a large share of them believe that the opportunities available for new graduates will be poor or only average.
This cautious attitude is mainly due to budget cuts, economic uncertainty, and changing workforce needs.
Entry level openings are becoming fewer as organisations slow down recruitment and rely more on technology. Tasks that were once handled by fresh graduates are now being completed by artificial intelligence tools, which reduces the need for junior employees.
At the same time, many companies are giving preference to candidates who already have experience, including recently laid off workers who have spent at least a year or two in similar roles. This increases the competition for students who are just finishing college.
Employers are also shifting their focus from degrees to real world skills. They want graduates who can show practical learning through internships, project work, or strong problem solving ability.
Because of all these changes, students entering the job market may face longer waits, more interviews, and greater pressure to prove their readiness for the workplace.
