India is largely a secular country and religious harmony is maintained on a consistent basis here. But there are some certain decisions are taken by administrative authorities, but can have a strong impact on the society and we appear to be closing in on one of those.

Something very interesting is happening in the BJP ranks in Karnataka as controversial businessman and politician Gali Janardhan Reddy has come up with a highly interesting proposal.

Karnataka politician G. Janardhana Reddy backed Basanagouda Patil Yatnal’s controversial suggestion that students say “Jai Shri Ram” instead of “Yes sir” during attendance, while also voicing support for saffron shawls and attire in schools and colleges.

The BJP MLA from the Bellary region has publicly commented that it is crucial to maintain Hindu religious sanctity by replacing the customary English words of yes sir and present sir with Jai Shri Ram in schools.

This might sound good to the Hindu population, but we have to see what kind of reaction that it would get from the larger sections of the common public.

The BJP is not to carry a strong saffron and Hindu to across the country, and this could be a pretty significant such development in this direction. But we have to wait and see if this would actually come to implementation as there is a lot of social scrutiny that is associated with the same.
