Chandrasekhar Rao took the decision of merging the state transportation body Telangana State Road Transport Corporation(TSRTC) into the government. With this, thousands of RTC employees will become government employees. They are happy with this.
However, the merger saw a big obstacle as the bill was not approved by the state governor. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan is said to have asked the government to clarify a few issues in the bill and the clarification was reportedly asked to know how the employees will be benefited.
As per the media reports, Tamilisai is said to have asked why there are no details of Centre's grants, share in RTC, and loans. Asking how the interests of the employees are safeguarded, the Governor also asked whether the RTC employees will get pensions on par with govt employees and how promotions and cadre normalization will be done.
The Governor might look into the bill and give her nod once the required details are given. However, we have to wait and see whether the government will send the required information or not.
The development happened when the RTC employees did not like what the Governor did and gave a call for a bundh. The buses were stopped at depots and the workers started to protest. It is also said that they gave a call to seize the Raj Bhavan as part of the protest.
The Governor responded to this and said that the strike of the employees is creating inconvenience to common people. Adding further, Tamilisai Soundararajan said that she is with the employees and also said that she supported them when they went for the protest.
"I am pained to know about the strike conducted by RTC employees creating inconvenience to common public...I want to convey that I am always with them even during the previous strike I was with them ..now also I am studying it carefully because their rights should be safeguarded," the Governor said on Twitter.
It is known that things are not going well between the Raj Bhavan and Pragathi Bhavan for some time. The CM and Governor openly made comments against each other which raised many eyeballs. Governor alleged that the protocol was not followed.
