However, the trend has increased of late due to various reasons. India is not an exemption from this. More and more Indians are moving to the US every year.
As the Indian population is growing, the waiting for the Green Card, the permanent residence is also increasing. The waiting period is only getting bigger and bigger which is troubling the aspirants. It is said that the waiting period for employment-based visas is very long.
As per the information, the Green Cards have a long waiting period. But EB-2 and EB-3 categories have a big wait period as over one million cards are in the queue to get cleared.
Around 1.1 million people are awaiting the EB-2 and EB-3 category cards to be cleared. This data sheds light on the vast gap between the growing demand and the availability of the cards that allow the aspirants to get resident status.
Well, the massive waiting period is not only a concern for the Indians who are waiting for the cards to be cleared. The main concern is for the people who want to apply for green cards in the next financial year.
As per the data for every fiscal year (October 1st – September 30th) around 140,000 employment-based immigrant visas will be issued for the qualified applicants. However, there are some segregations in the visas, and EB-2 or EB-3 are among them.
Around 1.1 million Indians are said to be waiting for the visas. This says that it is next to impossible for the immigration officers to address the massive waiting for the cards even though they give their best efforts in this regard.
As a precautionary measure, the government agency United States Citizenship and Immigration Services(USCIS) is expected to not accept any applications in the Financial year 2024 so that the waiting period won't widen further. 1.1 Million Indians are said to be waiting for their visas. If new visa applications are accepted then the waiting period will increase further. So the decision might have been taken.
