The H1B work visa is one of the most aspired United States visas by Indians, but things are starting to change slowly. It is now established that the immigration authorities have started to delay the H1B stamping in India, making things all the more stuff for the Indian population working in the United States.

Thousands of Indian professionals are facing serious uncertainty due to massive delays in US H1B visa stamping appointments across India.

According to recent reports, interview slots at American consulates are now being pushed as far as 2027, creating panic among visa holders and their families. Many applicants who were expecting appointments in 2026 are shocked to see dates moving by another year with no clear explanation or relief timeline.

The delay is largely being linked to tighter screening measures and enhanced background verification by US authorities.

Additional checks including social media reviews and extended security clearance processes have slowed down the daily interview capacity at consulates. As a result, fewer appointments are being released, leading to an ever growing backlog.

This situation has put thousands of jobs and careers at risk. Many H1B professionals working in the US are avoiding travel to India despite personal emergencies, fearing they may not be able to return in time. Families are being separated for long periods, and employers are struggling to manage workforce planning.

Immigration experts say the uncertainty is worse than the delay itself, as there is no official clarity on when the backlog will ease. Until concrete steps are taken to increase staffing and interview slots, the H1B visa stamping crisis is expected to continue troubling Indian applicants for the foreseeable future.
