Yesterday was a big occasion for India as it marked the country's 77th Independence Day. On the big day, the Union Territory of Ladakh received a Baahubali sort of push in infrastructure which would boost the connectivity in the region. This is a significant development given the importance it has.
It is known that we are having tense situations at the border with the Dragon country China. We have already seen some intense face-off between forces of both sides at the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Post the clashes, India focused on surveillance measures and gave in some big measures.
As a shot in the arm effort, the work of laying a road in the sensitive Ladakh was started. The Defence Ministry-owned Border Roads Organisation (BRO) started the work for constructing a road at Ladakh's Demchok sector at a high altitude of 19,400 feet.
The specialty of the road is that it is dubbed as the highest motorable road in the world. The Umling La Pass is the highest motorable road so far. But the new road will surpass it.
It is said that the new road is very close to the LAC and constructing the road is a strategic move by India to have a good roadway in the tense area. The Military forces can have a better reach as per the reports.
On the other hand, the work for the road construction came at a time when tense situations were happening at the border between India and China and both nations increased the forces' movement.
All eyes are on the new road to see how magnificent it will be. Earlier, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) stunned the world with the Umling La road in Ladakh at an altitude of 19,024 feet. This is the world's highest motorable road to date.
