Miss World: How The Beauty Event Changed Over The Years?

Beauty contests are a platform for the participants to show the world what they can do. Beauty is not the only parameter to win the crown and other aspects are also considered to select the winner. The Miss World contest which attracts contestants across the globe is underway and we will get a winner on Saturday.

The 2024 edition of the Miss World Beauty Pageant is hosted by India. The event marks the 71st edition of the event. After a long gap of 28 years, India is hosting the event. On occasion let us know the interesting facts about it.

Talking about history, the Miss World event was started back in 1951. As part of the Britain Festival a British Presenter named Eric Morley held a Bikini Contest which emerged as the Miss World contest later, making it one of the oldest beauty contests.

The beauty event started getting all the attention when the BBC aired the show. Kiki Haakonson who hails from Sweden scripted history by winning the first crown in the world.

In the 1970 edition of the beauty event, Jennifer Hosten became the first Black lady to win the prestigious crown.

India hosted the event back in 1996. Now after a long gap, India is hosting the event. From India Sini Shetty is representing the country in the beauty event.

Talking about Miss World winners from India, six participants won the event. Reita Faria is the first Miss World winner in India. India’s legacy in the event continued further with Aishwarya Rai(1994), Diana Hayden(1997), Yukta Mookhey(1999), Priyanka Chopra(2000) and Manushi Chhillar(2017)winning the crowns.Everyone thinks that Sini Shetty would bring another crown to the country.
