Can Hunger Strike Help Janasena Get A Ticket?

Strikes and hunger strikes have had a big importance in the country for a very long time. We can see the examples even before independence. After independence, political leaders and famous personalities used to sit for strikes for big issues and demands. Potti Sriramulu sat on a hunger strike for AP state.

Whenever a leader sits on strike he or she gets a wide range of attention. It has to be mentioned here that KCR also sat on a hunger strike for Telangana demand. Now a leader created a sensation with his acts as he sat for a strike.

It is known that TDP, Janasena, and BJP are in alliance. But TDP and JSP are facing tough competition in a few seats and the competition is resulting in tense scenes. The same fight also led to the parties not announcing tickets in the crucial seats.

This is the reason why Rajahmundry Rural saw a delay in getting the candidate. Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, the sitting MLA, and Kandula Durgesh competed for the seat. In the end, Gorantla received the ticket, and Kandula Durgesh was asked to move to another seat.

Now we are seeing similar scenes in Vijayawada West with tough competition between the leaders. Pothina Mahesh, an active member in the constituency, pinned high hopes on the seat that he would be the candidate.

But BJP gave a twist to the issue as the party was allocated the seat. This came as a big shock to Mahesh. Earlier he said that he would contest as an independent. His followers also staged protests in his support.

It looks like Pothina Mahesh used all the options and he was left with the only option of sitting on a hunger strike. He sat on the hunger strike to get the ticket. He said that only he could win the seat and hence he sat on strike. Now we have to see if this helps him or not.
