We often see in movies people try to send their last message to their loved ones and it never reaches them. After a long delay, the message comes to light. This happened in real life too as a letter that was written in 1902 became a viral one. A dying husband had written to his wife.
1902 can be dubbed as the worst year in the history of the United States due to many disasters. An explosion reported in Tennessee state On May 19, 1902, reported the deaths of as many as over 120 people. The disaster is said to have played a key role in the authorities focusing on the safety of miners at the mines.
Vowell, one of the miners trapped inside the mine, had written to his wife to highlight his situation. He said those trapped in the mine are praying for the air to support them to survive.
The miner in the letter addressed his wife and said that he had to leave her in a bad situation and requested her to take care of the children.
"If we should never get out we are not hurt, only perished. There are but a few of us here and I don't know where the other men are. Elbert said for you to meet him in Heaven. Tell all the children to meet with us both there,” the Miner said in the letter.
The 1902 disaster saw over 190 people breathing their last in the explosion while 26 others passed away due to asphyxiation. What happened in 1902 is seen as one of the biggest disasters in the mining sector in the country.
