Get ready, Hyderabad: Air sirens and mock drills today

It is already known that India and Pakistan have been observing extremely conflict and volatile situations in the border. After the notorious Pahalgam terrorist attack, India has been contemplating retaliatory measures.

In this context, the latest developments have been suggesting that the civil defence forces have started to prepare for complex situations. Hyderabad is going to witness something like this in the form of mock drills that are scheduled.

The Government of Telangana, as part of a nationwide civil defence preparedness programme, will conduct a mock air raid drill today, May 7, 2025, at 4:00 PM across Hyderabad city.

The drill is being held under the provisions of the Civil Defence Act, 1968, which mandates all States and Union Territories to remain prepared for civil defence scenarios, including the protection of civilians, training of emergency services, and boosting public morale in times of external threats.

Hyderabad has been identified among 244 vulnerable districts across the country by the Government of India. Within the city, areas inside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) will participate in this mock simulation.

Hyderabad public has been instructed to stay indoors during this drill period, and make sure that they cooperate with the civil security services.
