The volume of the Indian population travelling to the United States has been sharply going up in the recent years. But considering the fact that the trend is likely to reverse, we are now looking at the possible destinations in India. A recent discussion has emerged over why many Non Resident Indians are increasingly choosing to work from Hyderabad instead of returning to their offices in the United States.

The trend reflects changing priorities among the Telugu diaspora, especially those employed in the technology sector. Hyderabad has become a preferred destination for many NRIs due to its strong IT ecosystem and growing presence of global companies. Major multinational firms such as Amazon, Google and Microsoft operate large campuses in the city, creating abundant job opportunities and enabling professionals to continue working remotely while staying in India.

The city’s office leasing market has also been expanding steadily, highlighting its importance as a global technology hub. Another key factor is the improved infrastructure and lifestyle Hyderabad offers. Developments like the Outer Ring Road, expanding metro network and a highly rated international airport have made the city more accessible and convenient for professionals returning from abroad.

These improvements have strengthened Hyderabad’s reputation as one of India’s most modern metropolitan cities. Cost of living and family comfort are also influencing decisions. Compared to the high expenses and demanding work culture in the US, many NRIs feel Hyderabad offers a better work life balance, access to domestic help, and proximity to family members.

Additionally, the strong US dollar against the Indian rupee gives NRIs greater purchasing power, allowing them to invest in property or maintain a comfortable lifestyle while working remotely from India.
