Hyderabad on High Alert: Bangladeshi Unrest Sparks Concerns!

In response to the ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh, the Hyderabad Police have heightened security measures to prevent the entry of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants into the city. The decision comes after intelligence agencies sounded an alert regarding the possible arrival of Bangladeshis following the volatile situation in the neighbouring country.

Police personnel have intensified checks on trains arriving from Kolkata, particularly at the Secunderabad and Nampally railway stations, to thwart any attempts by Bangladeshis to enter Hyderabad. Additionally, police teams are conducting checks in areas where illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were previously apprehended.

The unrest in Bangladesh began several weeks ago when thousands protested against the government's controversial quota system, resulting in the loss of over 300 young lives and scores of injuries. The crisis escalated on August 5th when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unexpectedly resigned and fled the country in a military aircraft, while the Army stepped in to fill the power vacuum. Hasina is currently in India.

In light of these developments, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who is also the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has urged the Bangladesh authorities to protect minorities amid the ongoing turmoil. Owaisi stressed that the government and authorities of Bangladesh have a duty under international law to safeguard the life, limb, and property of minority communities.
