Did Hyderabadis Just Approve HYDRA?

One of the most prestigious and aggressive decisions taken by the Revanth Reddy government in Telangana is the imposition of HYDRA. This self-governance body was set up with the intention of safeguarding waterbody lands, and prevent encroachments across the city.

As expected, this progressive body was very aggressive with its operations as several illegal encroachments and constructions across the city were mowed down without apprehension. Led by Ranganath, HYDRA quickly became an imposing force against illegal encroachments.

It is a fact that there were certain incidents when even common people who had invariably encroached government lands had to face the brunt of the attack. But at the end of the day, everyone is equal below law and this was strictly enforced by the HYDRA board.

Incidentally, the opposition party BRS look to make a meal out of this as KTR himself extensively took the anti HYDRA narrative against the Revanth Reddy administration in the recent Jubilee Hills election.

KTR repeatedly spoke about the wrongdoings of HYDRA and looked to villainise the whole operation. In fact, this was one of the central points of his campaigns in Jubilee Hills.

But considering the public mandate that was delivered in the election, a few political analysts are commenting that the people of Hyderabad appear to have given a strong message that they are indeed approving Hydra operations. The reigning result of 25,000 majority could be a dedication that the people are siding with HYDRA.

Hyderabad might have strong and posing action plans, but the end result is obviously rewarding as the majority of the city population is against illegal encroachments which are thankfully dealt with by HYDRA. It turns out that Revanth’s decision on HYDRA is perfectly right and it was validated by the city people as well.
