He had been battling illness for some time and was undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital. A few days prior, he was admitted to Apollo Specta Hospital in Ameerpet after suffering from a heart attack. During his hospitalization, numerous celebrities visited him to pay their respects.
Gaddar was a prominent figure in the Telangana movement and was often referred to as a people's battleship. His powerful voice and inspiring songs played a pivotal role in the People's War, Maoist, and Telangana movements, touching the lives of millions of people.
Born in Tupran in 1949, Gaddar was deeply involved in social and political causes. He fearlessly fought against the killings of Dalits in Karachendu in 1987 and vehemently opposed fake encounters. Unfortunately, he faced an assassination attempt on April 6, 1997, due to his activism.
His song 'podustunna poddumidha' became an anthem for the Amma Telangana movement, further fueling the cause. Gaddar's remarkable contribution to the field of music earned him the Nandi Award for the song 'nee paadham meedha puttumacchanai chellemma,' although he chose to decline the prestigious honor.
With his passing, the world has lost a true icon and a voice that resonated with the struggles and aspirations of the masses. Gaddar's legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, as his songs continue to echo the spirit of social justice and change. May his soul rest in peace.
