IPL: What’s The Scenario If Rain Effects PlayOffs?

We have almost reached the climax of the IPL 2024 as the league is underway. We are just a few matches away from seeing the winning team lifting the trophy. So far the league was high on entertainment with thrilling matches. The IPL league gave a heart attack to fans with sudden rains.

As the league matches are done and playoffs are left, fans are worried what would be the scenario of rain affects the matches. The playoffs can set the tone for the semi-finals and finals of the IPL.

Experts say that there is nothing to worry about as the organisers have alternatives. Reserve Day was kept as a backup so that the matches were not affected. There was additional time to finish the matches as well. Even if the match cannot be held on the reserve day, there is a possibility.

There is a reserve day for Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2, and eliminator matches. An additional time of 120 minutes was also allocated. For the league matches the time is just 60 minutes which is doubled.

As a backup plan, the organisers have a reserved day for the crucial matches if it rains. So the match can be held even if it rains and the match gets suspended on a particular day.

Even if the scenarios don't come in handy in holding the matches, the team with the highest points will get an advantage as it will be declared the winner. There are high chances for the matches to be played even if it rains. However, the team with more points will have an advantage if the match cannot be played.
