It is common for people in many regions in AP to ask others immediately after meeting where they are from without thinking what the other person would think. The trend which was not there in Telangana has also started slowly. Earlier the habit of asking others who you are. What’s your caste was less not just in Telangana, but in North Andhra and Rayalaseema. Thanks to the change in situations, the habit is increasing.

Compared to other places, the trend would be more in educational institutions. When the academic year starts, students meet others. In the process of meeting others, they might not ask this directly. But they try to get the details by talking about their details as they come from a certain background. Now the premium educational institution IIT Bombay took a key decision in this regard. It imposed a new rule that students cannot ask fellow students about their caste and their score.

The IIT Bombay highlighted the issue in the directives it issued recently. It suggested that they should talk about games, movies, and interests in music rather than discussing caste and score. On the 12th of February, a student named Darshan Solanki who is studying BTech first year died by jumping from the student's hostel building. It was mentioned in the FIR that there is caste discrimination in IIT Bombay and there was a change in the other students after they knew about his caste.

After the student died by suicide, his mother spoke to the cops about the caste discrimination on the campus premises. She said that her son used to talk about this whenever he called her. Following this, the institution issued directives to students that they should not talk to other students about caste and their JEE score. It is said that the directives are given as there is a chance of predicting others' caste based on the score they got in the exam. After the directives were issued, we are hearing comments that it would be good if the same is implemented in the educational institutions in the two Telugu states.
