One of the many decisions taken by the President of United States, Donald Trump is his insane tariff procedure that has been hitting several countries globally.

But it needs to be noted that India’s strong and steady economy has given the country a clear advantage in its ongoing tariff negotiations with the United States. Even though the U.S. imposed tariffs as high as fifty percent on several Indian goods, the overall impact on India’s economy has remained limited.

Exports to the U.S. did fall, but the decline was smaller than expected, showing that India’s domestic demand and economic activity are providing strong support. This resilience is allowing the government to negotiate from a position of confidence instead of urgency.

Because of this stability, India is in no hurry to close a trade deal unless it gets favourable terms. Officials believe that waiting will help secure better access for Indian products and possibly push the U.S. to reconsider higher tariffs linked to issues like Russian oil imports.

At the same time, India is preparing to reduce its own tariffs on many goods while protecting sensitive sectors such as agriculture. The government is also encouraging exporters to diversify into markets like the U.K., UAE, and Australia.

Overall, the message is clear. India’s economic strength is giving it time, leverage, and flexibility. Rather than accepting pressure, the country is focused on achieving a balanced and long term trade agreement.
