Amid Political Crisis, India Halts IBFP Extension In Bangladesh?

Bangladesh is a friendly country of India and this is why we help it in the tough times. We have seen how the country went through a political crisis and the situation came under control slightly. The elected Prime Minister had to leave the country and an interim government is the in-charge now.

The ongoing crisis in Bangladesh is said to have impacted a diesel pipeline as it was halted reportedly. In the wake of the ongoing political crisis, the Indian government is said to have taken the big decision.

It is said that earlier a proposal was made to extend The India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline (IBFP) to supply Diesel to Bangladesh. The pipeline was supposed to be extended beyond Parbatipur in Bangladesh to supply Diesel to Bangladesh.

However, media reports say that the proposal was reportedly halted by the Indian government in the wake of the political sensation triggered by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation.

The pipeline was inaugurated earlier last year to supply diesel to a few regions in Bangladesh. As the pipeline has been running successfully a proposal was made to extend the pipeline further to boost the Diesel supply.

However, the situation is not good in Bangladesh in the wake of the ongoing crisis. No one knows when the situation will come under control and what the interim government will do. The interim government is yet to strike a positive tie with the Indian government.

Considering all these aspects the Indian government is said to have paused the initiative. There is no clarity on when the project would be resumed. We might get clarity on this soon. Let us wait and see.
