As is known, Ministry of External Affairs has notified revised passport fees under the Passports Rules, 2026, effective July 1, which is today.
Key changes in the pricing model for new passports from today include:
• 36-page passport: ₹2,500 (Normal) - ₹5,000 (Tatkaal)
• 60-page passport: ₹3,500 (Normal) - ₹6,000 (Tatkaal)
• Lost/damaged (36 pages): ₹5,000 (Normal) - ₹7,500 (Tatkaal)
• Lost/damaged (60 pages): ₹6,000 (Normal) - ₹8,500 (Tatkaal)
The notification also provides a 10% fee discount on fresh passport applications for children up to 8 years of age and senior citizens.
Apart from that, there are a few regulatory rule changes that have been made to the Indian digital transaction library, and this includes free Aadhaar card and email address linking without the standard Rs 75 fee.
Along with that, the HDFC credit card system is also bringing a new feature where eligible users can utilise 3 free Domestic airport privileges at the lounge facilities.
