By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Aug 2026 5:52 PM ISTIt is already known that India has become one of the major automobile markets in the world, and it has been the case for the last couple of decades. Volume of automobile sales that happen here superior to many other countries.
However, the latest trend is suggesting that Indian people have started to steady move away from the prospect of petrol and diesel oriented vehicles towards more conventional options.
Apparently, the public has started to move from petrol cars to EV and CNG vehicles at an increased rate in view of the ongoing situation in the automobile market.
According to the latest reports and statistical figures, CNG and EV sales are going up. This essentially means that car owners don’t want to take risk with petrol cars unless there is clear roadmap of ethanol and assurance from govt about arbitrary blending of ethanol.
If the figures directly related ethanol concerns, definitely ethanol lobbies are at loss due to July drop of 10,417 petrol cars. This is a pretty significant drop in the sales of petrol vehicle vehicles in view of the ongoing theories.
The central government has already made it very clear that ethanol blended petrol does not decrease the efficiency or petrol mileage of a vehicle. But it appears that the public is still sceptical about buying these cars in the first place.
This is good in a way considering that EV sales are going up consistently, and this is better not just for the economy, but also the environmental index.
