It is already known that the United States government under Donald Trump administration has enforced a strong tariff policy. On top of the existing tariff policies that are being enforced by the Trump government, the latest announcement confirms that he is likely to impose a tariff on Indian films as well.

While the intentions are prevailing about the tariff war between India and the United States, which also directly involves several other countries globally, India has now moved strategically.

In a landmark development, India and the United Kingdom have successfully concluded a historic Free Trade Agreement and a Double Taxation Avoidance Convention. This milestone reflects the deepening of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, aimed at boosting bilateral trade, investment, innovation, and job creation.

Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Keir Starmer expressed mutual appreciation for the breakthrough during a cordial conversation. The agreements promise to unlock new economic opportunities and strengthen ties between the two nations. As both countries look to the future with renewed collaboration, PM Modi extended a warm invitation to PM Starmer to visit India in the near future.

In this context, Modi tweeted “Delighted to speak with my friend PM @Keir_Starmer. In a historic milestone, India and the UK have successfully concluded an ambitious and mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement, along with a Double Contribution Convention.

These landmark agreements will further deepen our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and catalyse trade, investment, growth, job creation, and innovation in both our economies. I look forward to welcoming PM Starmer to India soon.” Trump stated.
