And now that Donald Trump has completed a year at the White House, let us have a look at the kind of consensus that is being put up by the Indo-American population on his administration.
A recent survey has revealed growing dissatisfaction among Indian Americans over the India policies of US President Donald Trump.
According to the findings, about 55 percent of Indian American adults disapprove of the way he is handling relations with India. This marks a noticeable decline in support compared to his earlier term in office.
Only around 20 percent of respondents said they approve of Trump’s approach toward India, while nearly 25 percent stated that they have no clear opinion. The drop in approval is significant when compared to 2020, when nearly 35 percent had expressed support for his India policies.
Many respondents cited concerns related to trade disagreements, economic policies, and the overall direction of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Some also feel that strategic cooperation between the United States and India has not progressed in a stable and consistent manner under the current leadership.
The survey also highlighted a political divide within the Indian American community. A large majority of those who identify with the Democratic Party expressed dissatisfaction, while Republican leaning Indian Americans showed relatively higher levels of support.
Overall, the data suggests that Indian American opinion is shifting, with more people questioning the current approach toward India and calling for stronger and more balanced diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
