The number of antisocial activities that are being committed by the Indian population in the United States in recent past has been on a shocking rise. This has hit a new peak in the form of the latest cases that are being filed against the Indian folk in connection with the same.

A 39-year-old man from Latham, New York, named Mehul Goswami with Indian origin has been arrested and charged with grand larceny in the second degree for allegedly stealing more than $50,000 from the New York State Office of Information Technology Services.

Investigators say Goswami was working remotely for the state while also holding another full-time job in the town of Malta during the same period. Authorities believe he collected a state salary without properly fulfilling his duties, resulting in significant financial loss to taxpayers.

The case was uncovered through a joint investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Office of the Inspector General. Goswami was arraigned before Judge James A. Fauci in Malta Town Court and later released on his own recognizance as the legal proceedings continue.

The Inspector General’s office stated that misuse of taxpayer money and deceptive dual employment undermine confidence in public service. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full extent of Goswami’s alleged actions and whether any additional charges will follow.
