But on the other hand, we have the occasional instances when Indian population is mistreated in these countries and here’s a look into one such story.
An Indian vegetarian living in the Netherlands shared her unhappy experience at a McDonald’s restaurant there. She said that the vegetarian food choices were very limited and far from what she is used to in India.
Because of this, she felt like Indian vegetarians living abroad were being treated like second-class citizens.
In India, many people prefer vegetarian food, so McDonald’s offers a wide range of vegetarian meals. Popular choices include items like McAloo Tikki, Veg Maharaja Mac, Paneer burgers, and other clearly marked vegetarian options. These foods are made just for people who do not eat meat.
But in the Netherlands, McDonald’s has fewer vegetarian items. Some options include things like the McPlant a-plant-based burger vegetarian nuggets, and vegetable dishes.
While these are meatless, they are not similar to the vegetarian foods Indian customers expect. They may also be prepared in the same kitchen as meat dishes, which bothers some strict vegetarians.
The woman’s post went viral and many people online reacted. Some agreed that vegetarian options abroad can be disappointing. Others said travelers should check menus before visiting foreign restaurants. Many also pointed out that food styles are different in every country, and vegetarian choices depend on local eating habits.
