It is already known that India is one of the main exponents of this Switzerland banking system, where a significant portion of the Indian black money is deposited in this Swiss region. This has been the case for many decades now as well.

However, the latest updates are suggesting that there has been a significant drop in the value of the Indian money that is being deposited in these Swiss banks, and this has become an interesting topic now.

Recent data reveals a notable decline in funds linked to Indian clients in Swiss banks, dropping to approximately Rs 36,800 crore by the end of 2025.

This represents an over 8 per cent decrease from the previous year, particularly driven by reduced amounts managed through banking institutions, despite a significant rise in direct customer deposits to nearly Rs 6,000 crore.

The decline was primarily driven by a fall in funds held through local branches and other financial institutions.

However, money held in customer accounts of individual and institutional clients rose by more than 50 per cent during the year accounting for about 16 per cent of the total funds.

At the fundamental level, this is a good thing to see Indian origin individuals pull out the money from this Swiss bank accounts. But the big question here is whether these funds are being illegally transited to other offshore companies, which is the main problem here.
