Over the recent years, the demographic of the Indian population in the United States has been growing up every single month. This has resulted in a point where even United States citizens are vexed up with what is happening.

A social media post by a US citizen expressing discomfort at seeing large Indian crowds at an outlet mall in Allen, Texas has sparked fresh debate around immigration, demographic change, and the politics of belonging in America.

The user directed criticism at Texas Governor Greg Abbott, framing the visible presence of Indian immigrants as an act of political betrayal, going so far as to use the word treason.

The comment reflects a sentiment shared by a section of Americans who feel unsettled by the rapid demographic shifts in cities like Allen, which has seen significant growth in its South Asian population in recent years, largely driven by the tech industry and H1B visa holders settling in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Those who share this perspective argue that large-scale immigration, particularly from India, is reshaping local communities faster than existing residents can adapt, straining public resources and altering the cultural fabric of neighbourhoods they grew up in.

On the other side, Indian Americans and immigration advocates point out that this community contributes significantly to the US economy, particularly in the technology, healthcare, and engineering sectors.

Allen and surrounding cities in Texas have actively benefited from this talent pool, with businesses, tax revenues, and real estate markets all growing stronger as a result.

Immigration experts also note that the presence of immigrants in a public space like a shopping mall is hardly evidence of policy failure. The United States has historically been a nation shaped by waves of migration, and demographic diversity in commercial spaces reflects that ongoing reality rather than any betrayal of national identity.
