Alarming Trend: Indian Students Declining in UK!

It has become increasingly common for the Indian student population to travel to the United States and United Kingdom for better employment and study opportunities. It needs to be said that United Kingdom of the popular choices apart from the United States when it comes to the Indian student community.

However, the latest trend is turning out to be different as the number of Indian students in the United Kingdom has been on a steady decline.

The number of Indian students going to the United Kingdom for higher education has shown signs of decline, raising concerns about the future of student mobility.

According to a report by the British Home Office, the growth that India enjoyed in recent years has now slowed down due to new restrictions and policy changes.

By June this year, 98,014 Indian students received UK study visas. While this figure still appears strong, experts point out that the overall momentum is weakening. In the previous years, Indian numbers had risen sharply, but the pace is now much lower.

At the same time, dependent visas for Indian families have faced a steep cut. Around 2,715 dependents were granted visas this year, but the number has fallen by nearly 30% compared to last year.

Analysts say that the stricter British immigration rules, especially limiting dependents, are discouraging many Indian families from choosing the UK. Rising costs of living, uncertainty in job opportunities after studies, and competition from other countries like Canada and Australia are also adding to the decline.

The trend suggests that, unless policies become more student-friendly, the UK may see a further drop in interest among Indian students in the coming years.
