By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Sept 2025 10:14 AM ISTThe Donald Trump administration in the United States made a pretty significant announcement as it is confirmed that the new H1B Visa aspirants are to be made scapegoats. It is communicated that new H1B visa aspirants are to be onboarded by private companies by paying an upfront fee of $100K which is a pretty big deal.
In this context, San Francisco International Airport (SFO) witnessed unexpected drama on Saturday night after an Emirates flight bound for India was delayed by nearly three hours.
The reason here is that a large group of Indian passengers, mostly H-1B visa holders, suddenly disembarked from the aircraft.
According to reports, the passengers received urgent phone calls from their employers soon after boarding. The calls warned them not to leave the U.S. following the shocking news that President Trump’s administration has approved a $100,000 application fee for new H-1B visas.
Many companies reportedly feared that if their employees exited the country, they might face difficulties re-entering or reapplying under the new rules.
Eyewitnesses described a scene of confusion, with crew members struggling to handle the sudden exodus. Airline staff had to offload baggage and recheck passenger lists, causing significant delay.
This incident highlights the growing anxiety among Indian tech workers in the U.S., as the new H-1B fee policy continues to create uncertainty for both employees and companies.
