Indian Students Going To Canada Sees A Massive Drop!

India is a big market for any country as far as foreign students are concerned. Every year Indians go to other countries for higher studies. Some of them even end up settling there by getting jobs. Indians help the nations get big income. They pay fees and money for accommodation, food, and others.

When we talk about the nations where Indians go every year for studies, the US, Canada, and the UK will be at the top. However, things are not going well between India and Canada these days. The diplomatic ties between the two nations came under question with the Khalistani threat.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made inflammatory comments and raised doubt about the Indian agents' hand behind the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani separatist. Speaking in the house, he said that Indian agents might have been behind the killing. He called Nijjar the Canadian national.

Now the tensions left a big impact on the students' permits as the annual permits allotted to Indians saw a big fall. In the trimester that ended in December only 14,910 permits were issued which is a drop of 86 percent compared to the previous trimester.

The diplomatic issues between India and Canada are dubbed as the reason behind the drop in the permits. Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller was quoted as saying that the issues in the ties is not letting them process the permits in big numbers.

If we look at the numbers, Indians have been accounting for the major share of foreign students in Canada. Over 40 percent of students have been going to the country every year making the nation see income in big numbers. However, the diplomatic ties created issues.

On the other hand, experts say that dropping the students' permits can be a strategic move by Canada as finding rooms and houses has become a big issue with a massive flow of foreign students. The resources are also seeing a big consumption and with this, the call might have been taken.
