He scored 116 runs from 89 balls, giving New Zealand a good start in their pursuit of 389 runs. However, Australia ultimately won the match. In a press conference, Rachin was asked about his performance and his Indian heritage.
During the press conference after New Zealand's loss to Australia, Rachin discussed the pressure of playing in India due to his Indian roots. He expressed pride in his Indian heritage but also emphasized that he is 100% Kiwi. He mentioned that playing in India had helped him improve his game.
"Oh, well, I think, I've been asked this question a lot, but I guess I'm 100% Kiwi and I'm very proud of my Indian heritage. But I guess it's proud to be able to do it in the country where my parents were born and where they grew up and where a lot of my family is. But I think, obviously the conditions, it's good for batting and being able to come to India previously on tours and trying to not perfect my game but I try get better. I guess that that helps in a way," Ravindra said.
Rachin also mentioned the fantastic support from the crowd in Dharamsala, even though it was considered a neutral venue for New Zealand. He appreciated the enthusiasm of the fans and how they cheered for both teams. Despite the loss, New Zealand is in a good position to qualify for the Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-finals.
