However, experts have unearthed a new syndrome that has to do with searching about symptoms on the internet.
It is known that the internet is a mountain of information and we can search for anything. Due to the availability of the internet, searching for healthcare also increased. Based on the symptoms they search online. However, the experts dubbed this as a syndrome and urged everyone to be cautious.
It may sound strange, but there is a syndrome called IDIOT which is the abbreviation of "Internet Derived Information Obstruction Treatment”. The condition talks about people searching online for their health and following the information.
A study was carried out in the journal of the National Institutes of Health(NIH) which talks about the syndrome and the impact it has on one. Doctors giving treatment after examining the patient is different from people taking treatment from a web search. There is a lot of difference.
It is not that information cannot be taken from the internet. But it is no match to a certified doctor’s treatment. The journal said that both are different and urged people to only seek treatment from doctors.
Syndrome is a term that cannot be taken lightly and needs a lot of attention. The same is the case with IDIOT syndrome. Experts say that if they feel they have the symptoms then they should stop reducing internet usage and seek a doctor’s help.
